2. Tere utare hue din (Gubbare) – dus kahaniyaan

Tere utare hue din ,  tange hai lawn mein ab tak,

Na wo puraane hue hain , na unka rang utra ,

Kahin se koi bhi seevan abhi nahi udhadi

Elaichi ke bahut paas rakhe pathar par ,

Zara si jaldi sarak aaya karti hai chaanv

Zara sa aur ghana ho gaya wo paudha

Main thoda thoda wo gamla hatata rehta hoon

Fakeera ab bhi wahi meri coffee deta hai

Thaki thaki si zara der lawn mein rukkar

Safed aur gulabi masumbe ke paudhon mein hi ghulne lagti hai

Ki jaise barf ka tukda pighalta jaaye whiskey mein

Main scarf din ka gale se utaar deta hoon ,

Tere utaare hue din pehen ke ab bhi main teri mehek mein  kai roz kaat deta hoon

Tere utare hue din ,  tange hai lawn mein ab tak,

Na wo puraane hue hain , na unka rang utra ,

Kahin se koi bhi seevan abhi nahi udhadi

Meaning :

The story is about a man who lost his wife and misses her a lot , and describes little things that have changed, and things that have not ,  in her absence and how his life still goes on…..

The days that you left behind , are still hung on the line wire in the lawn

Neither have they grown old , nor have they lost colour,

Every stitch in it is still intact

Shade covers the stone right next to the cardamom plant a little earlier than it used to,

The plant has now become more dense,

I keep shifting the pot bit by bit every day

Fakeera still makes me the same coffee

I also feed the squirrels with cookies , but they look at me with some suspicion,

I think they know the smell of your hands

Sometimes as evening sets in, the eagle comes down from the roof,

After a brief stop in the lawn ,

It flies to the sweet lemon tree, where it vanishes among the pink and white flowers

Just like an ice cube melts away in a glass of whiskey

I remove my scarf  (symbolizing his present days) and wear those days you left behind ,

and sometimes spend many days wrapped in your fragrance…

The days that you left behind , are still hung on the line wire in the lawn

Neither have they grown old , nor have they lost colour,

and every stitch in it is still intact.
