Aadhi adhoori kahaniyaan

I just thought I should collect my favorite Bollywood dialogues and song bits…..before they are lost in translation……and this way I can read them all at one place whenever I want to 🙂 …please do share with me any dialogues you find particularly inspiring, touching or romantic…

These are the ones on unrequited love and incomplete love stories….that I love…

Ishq di mere mitra pehchaan ki, mit jaave jadon zid apnaan di…” – Namaste London

Pata hai yahan se bahut dur, galat aur sahi ke paar ek maidaan hai, main wahan milunga tujhe” – Rockstar

Maine hamesha yahi samjha hai, ki agar tumhara pyaar jaana chahe to use jaane do, agar wo laut kar aaye, to wo tumhara hai , aur agar nahi to wo tumhara kabhi tha hi nahi….” – Ishq Vishq

Do naina aur ek kahani (Masoom) – Lyrics and Translation

This one’s an old gem….which I chanced upon today as I was looking for some good songs to make my new playlist…This song is slow, calming, deep and relaxing….Its a lullaby but the song later takes on a sad tone, however the sweetness of the song still remains intact…this ones to old times, to Masoom (used to be one of my favs because of the song …lakdi ki kaanthi..), to Aarthi Mujherjee (her beautiful voice), to Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah..(such fine actors), and to the then child artists… Jugal Hansraj and  Urmila Matondkar 🙂

Do naina aur ek kahani, thoda sa baadal, thoda sa paani, aur ek kahani

Choti si dhoop, jheelon mein wo behti rehti hai, Koi sune ya na sune kehti rehti hai

Kuch likh ke aur kuch zubaani

Thodi si hai jaani hui, thodi si nayi, Jahan ruke aansoon wahi poori ho gayi

Hai to nayi phir bhi hai puraani

Ek khatm ho to doosri raat aa jaati hai, Hothon pe fir bhooli hui baat aa jaati hai

do naino ki hai ye kahani.

Two eyes and one story, some clouds (referring to kajal), some water (referring to tears) and a story

A little sunlight keeps flowing in the lakes (referring to the shining golden reflection of the sun on the water), It does not matter if anyone’s listening or not, It keeps telling the story, sometimes written (on the lake) and sometimes by speaking out.

A part of the story is known, but a small part of it is new, whenever the tears stop, that is where the story stops too, Its new but its old at the same time

As one night passes, its time for the other night, and those forgotten words cross my lips, that is the story of  the two eyes!

Its the story of a woman who just came to know that her husband has a child from another woman. As she puts her kids to sleep, she sings this song for them, expressing her sadness at the same time.

Phir le aaya …(Barfi)

Phir le aaya dil majboor kya kije, Raas na aaya rehna dur kya kije

Dil keh raha use muqammal kar hi aao

Wo jo adhoori si baat baaki hai, wo jo adhoori si yaad baaki hai

Karte hai hum aaj qabool kya kije, Ho gayi thi jo humse bhool kya kije

Dil keh raha use manassar kar hi aao

Wo jo dabi si aas baaki hai, wo jo dabi si aanch baaki hai

Kismat ko hai ye manzoor kya kije, Milte rahe baadastoor kya kije

Dil keh raha hai use musalsal kar hi aao

Wo jo ruki si raah baaki hai , wo jo ruki si chaah baaki hai

To all  those who do not have the courage to take that risk of following their heart, To those who chose the riches and comforts over love, To those who did not trust their instincts, To those who still live in that golden cage, eating on a silver plate under the impression that they are happy, To those who know how incompleteness feels and more often than not that feeling is ignored, To those who have loved but could not accept it…..

The ways of the heart are strange, the road that the heart wants you to follow is never easy, but its always worth a try, The riches and comforts are important, but nothing can match the comfort in the arms of a loved one, The golden cage is still a cage, the food will taste no different in a silver plate, Sometimes all you need is to step out and make someone you love “happy” to feel complete, And you have just one life, life is not always a bollywood movie, you can live with the hope of meeting again, but sometimes its just too late, sometimes the ending is not Happy….so if you love someone and are loved in return, don’t think twice, just go with the flow……because love is all it takes to make things happen…..and love might never give you a second chance….

She wanted him …

She wanted him to know she still loved him! She loved the way he made her feel! The way he looked at her was what made her feel beautiful! The way he held her hand in his made her feel protected. The way he treated her made her feel like a princess. He would know what she wanted, how she felt without her having to say a word! She did not know how to reciprocate her feelings, she could understand how he felt but she was always scared! Scared to trust anyone with her feelings, not even him. So she kept everything to herself, everything, including her love for him!

He was tall, dark, handsome, the kind of guy every girl would love to have in her life, she was plump, fair, not drop dead gorgeous but was pretty and talented. They were destined to meet, and they chose to part! But meeting again probably was in their hands. She was confused, had no clue if this is what she wanted and so she decided to stay away from him, he was tired of making her understand that it would work out, that they could be together and so he decided to stay away from her.

She still tried to keep in touch, but he did not see any future for their relationship. “Whats the point in keeping in touch?” he would ask?
“Do you do everything only because there is something in it for you?” she would ask.

He would say : “Go away….”, she would say, “I can’t”, he would say , then “Stay with me forever” and she would say “I can’t!”.

If I stay here, there is a going in my staying; and if I go there is a staying in my going. Only love and death will change all things.” (Khalil Gibran)

And so she now walks alone, in that road called life, to see what comes first love or death or both, and it is only then that things will change, she knows!

And all the time she regrets parting with him, wishes to see him again, hopes that he has moved on, but secretly wants him to be hers forever  and from all these voices in her head, among all the conflicting thoughts, she sometimes can  hear that feeble but firm voice of her grandma – “Of all the sufferings in the world, the worst is the one that comes with not knowing what it is that you exactly want”…..
