Waiting on the world to change – John Mayer

Me and all my friends, we’re all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing, and there is no way we ever could
Now we see everything that is going wrong, with the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don’t have the means
To rise above and beat it
So we keep waiting, waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting, waiting on the world to change
It is hard to beat the system
When we’re standing at a distance
So we keep waiting, waiting on the world to change
Now if we had the power, to bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas,no more ribbons on their door
And when you trust your television, what you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information, Oh! they can bend it all they want
That’s why we’re waiting, waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting, waiting on the world to change
It’s not that we don’t care,we just know that the fight ain’t fair
So we keep on waiting, waiting on the world to change
And we’re still waiting, waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting, waiting on the world to change
One day our generation is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting, waiting on the world to change
No, we keep on waiting, waiting on the world to change

This  is exactly what we are all doing, standing away from the system and waiting for things to change. Each one of us knows there is something wrong with the way the world is shaping up. My friends and I, whenever we meet, we discuss, we think, we identify problems, we propose solutions but then ”

We just feel like we don’t have the means
To rise above and beat it”

I hope this new year I can do more than just talk!

Hope all you people out there can do the same, so that we can all have a great 2013 and have many more wonderful years ahead!

(I was looking through my old diary this morning when I found these lines, I wrote them several years ago, I don’t remember what was I thinking or going through when I wrote these lines, but they still feel so fresh and apt.)

The lonely swan

The lonely swan

Who does not love the warmth of the comforter on a snowy weekend morning or the heat of the fireplace on chilly winter nights, but when I think of it, that one thing that keeps me happy and helps me survive these otherwise long and sometimes depressing winter months is the warmth and affection of the loved ones! I hope this lonely swan finds someone too…. because the number one might be a very coveted number in a professional setting but beyond that in real life it is a very lonely number…So here’s wishing that you have around you, wonderful friends and a cheerful family to keep you warm in this cold season!

Gham ka khazaana – Sajda (Lyrics and Meaning)

(such a heart touching song, brilliance is what you experience when legends like Lata Mangeshkar and Jagjit Singh come together)

Gham ka khazaana tera bhi hai mera bhi, Ye nazarana tera bhi hai mera bhi

Apne gham ko geet banakar gaa lena, raag puraana tera bhi hai mera bhi

Tu mujhko aur main tujhko samjhaoon kya, dil deewaana tera bhi hai mera bhi

Sheher mein galiyon galiyon jiska charcha hai, wo afsana tera bhi hai mera bhi

Maikhaane ki baat na kar waaiz mujhse, aana jaana tera bhi hai mera bhi

The treasures of sorrow are mine as much as they are yours, it’s a gift that is yours as much as its mine

Turn  your grief into a song  and sing along, that old tune that you hum belongs to you as much as it belongs to me

It’s futile to make an attempt to explain what the matter is, because my heart is as crazy as yours (and neither of us will understand)

In the city and its streets whatever they talk about, it’s that story which is yours as much as its mine

Don’t talk to me about the  drinkery o preacher, I also visit that place just like you do

A song that you can identify with if you have loved and lost!

When a relationship ends it does not matter whose fault it was, who decided to leave, who cheated on whom, the suffering is never one-sided.  The pain of parting, the burden of  loss is experienced by both alike.  It’s true that  some move on  faster than the others, or so it seems, but the scars of unfulfilled desires, unrequited love and broken dreams can never be erased from the hearts of those who were once  bonded by love, care and happiness, and the only thing that ties them now is the suffering and the grief that comes with a broken heart!

Wish comes true

Wish comes true

Muir Woods, San Francisco
When I was a little kid, on one of my visits to my grandparents’ place in a small town in India, I saw a painting on their living room wall. I was very fascinated by the painting, and curiously asked my grand pa, is there such a place on earth? And he said, must be, there must be an inspiration for this painting! and I said, “How I wish I could see such a place someday!”, and the someday finally was finally here, a couple of months back, and this picture is as close as it gets to the painting that once upon a time hung on a plastered wall, in the living room of an old house in a small town in India. As much as that small girl from that small town was thrilled when she saw her wish come true, this grown up girl also secretly thanked her younger self  for having wished something good! So the next time you say “I wish!”, be really careful about what you say, you never know when life’s listening 🙂

Everyday I see her sit there staring at the lake, lost in the emptiness that surrounds her, lost in the emptiness that lies within, startled occasionally by a splash in the water when an ambitious fish tries to reach for the sky, or by a skein of honking geese flying over the lake. And as she gets up she takes one last look at the spot next to her to make sure its empty! That’s the only way she can make sure that she is still alive. The only truth in her life now is that he is gone forever….. that the spot next to her will be empty as long as she lives….

Smile Please!

Smile Please!

A smiling rock surrounded by salt water @ Ocean Beach, San Francisco!
Nature has its own ways of telling us, smile even when you are surrounded by tears. You might have many reasons to cry and just one reason to smile, but don’t you think investing your time in smiling is always profitable? The tears will be lost the moment you let them escape your eyes, but your smile will generally be returned whenever you use it. Spread smiles as you go and one day you will notice there will be no more tears in your way!
