Why a cardinal? The red color of the male cardinals is mesmerizing, especially against a gray and dull winter backdrop, but at the same time I am sure the brilliant red also makes these birds an easy prey for larger birds. Unlike most birds, cardinals do not migrate, and they do not have a winter plumage to blend in with the dull colors. They survive these long dull winters against the odds, don’t you think? 🙂

I was at the beach early morning, all by myself, clicking pictures. She was at the beach early morning, all by herself, collecting rocks. We were in our own ways enjoying solitude, or at least I would like to think so.
